"Baywatch" hunk Jason Momoa may be trading his swim trunks for armor if a picture deal goes through.
Negotiations are underway for the part-Hawaiian actor to play a gladiator in an epic to be filmed in Italy.
It is still not know whether "Baywatch" will be renewed, but shooting of the gladiator picture would coincide with
the lifeguard series' hiatus.

Brooke Burns, formerly of "Baywatch Hawai‘i" (but on maternity leave most of last season), will
join supermodel Angie Everhart in a new syndicated action series, "Undercover Blues," set in Las Vegas and produced by
Pearson Television, which also produces "Baywatch." The new show is set for syndication in the fall 2001 season.

"Baywatch Hawaii," which just completed its second season of filming here, has been given the go-ahead by
owner Pearson Television to write eight new episodes for a possible third season.
With a writers strike expected May 1 and an actors strike July 1, "Baywatch" executives believed it was
important to get a headstart in writing scripts and wanted to be prepared if the show is picked up. That decision
is not expected until late January.
If the series is renewed and filming begins in February as tentatively scheduled, shooting for the full 22-episode
season could be completed before the actors strike, a show executive said.
"Baywatch Hawaii's" domestic ratings have averaged only a 2.1 ratings/share in the first nine weeks of this
second season, including the recent November sweeps.
Each "Baywatch" episode costs nearly $1 million to film, most of which is spent in Hawaii. The series relocated
from Los Angeles in 1999 to save money and revitalize the 9-year-old program.
There's been no discussion about possible cast changes, although the production is hiring Bob Gookin and
Star-Bulletin humor columnist Charles Memminger as writers. Memminger will continue to write his
three-times-a-week "Honolulu Lite" column ... more
This year, "Baywatch" has primarily used Hawaii bands to provide the show's background music. Kauai-born
Glenn Medeiros is the show's musical coordinator.
The production company in February will release a CD with 22 original songs composed and performed by
Hawaii artists and recorded in Hawaii. The working title is "Baywatch Hawaii Season 2," South said.
Recording for the CD began three weeks ago and will be finished by Dec. 1. Groups and musicians included
B.E.T., FIJI, Soul Free, Natural Vibrations, Amy Hanaiali'i, Willie K, and Kealii Reichel.
This season's "Baywatch Hawaii" theme song -- "I Want To Be The One" -- was written by Fiji and Medeiros.
